Literature Text

She's that awkward tomboy.
People know her name, but not who she really is inside.
She is lost in herself.
In her piling emotions, she knows she is a boy.
She thinks everyone must feel this way,
that it's NORMAL to feel out of place,
in the wrong body; in the wrong gender or sex,
“What's wrong with me?” She asks herself.
She doesn’t know any answers,
She wants to know the truth.
He is trapped, she is falling apart at the seems,
He is the boy that nobody can see inside of herself but her,
Screaming to be heard, to be loved, to be valued, to be accepted.
She wants to let him free, to let herself go.
She wants to be the boy she is meant to; but she is stuffed into dresses, skirts, feminine clothing.
She is pushed and shoved into a role she isn't meant to play in life.
She is beautiful, she is trapped and misunderstood,
She wants to let herself go,
She wants to let him live,
To finally be free,
She is ME before I let the boy screaming inside of myself finally go.

She's finally free.
He can finally breathe and live.

I can finally be me.

This a poem about me being Transgender. The "She" is referring to my past female self, and the "He" is referring to the boy I was meant to be. I came out on April 15th, 2015. Those are what the dates are referring to. Thanks for reading.
